寻.迹 Discover Social Innovation

Xun Ji (寻.迹 in Chinese) is a campaign for social innovation that seeks to raise awareness about social innovation in Asia, with the first phase beginning from China.

This is China’s first student-initiated campaign for social innovation led by students from National University of Singapore (NUS) and Fudan University, in collaboration with students from other local institutions such as Xi’An-Jiaotong Liverpool University and East China Normal University.

Xun Ji is supported and endorsed by the Centre of Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy (CSEP) from the National University of Singapore Business School (NUSBS), as well as the Fudan School of Management.

Social innovation is the creation of solutions that drive changes in our society through creative and sustainable methods and we hope that more people will become advocates of the concept in future.  While awareness of the concept is still relatively new in China, there is a growing number of individuals who have stepped out to take the lead in driving social innovation.

On this campaign, we would be making documentaries on the stories of these social innovators and sharing them online so that more people can be inspired by their drive and passion.  On top of making of documentaries on stories of social innovation, the campaign also seeks to create awareness through organizing events and hence a forum on social innovation is planned to be held in October 2009, with the support of NUS Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy and the Student Union of Fudan School of Management.

About Xun Ji Annual Social Innovation Forum

This annual forum hopes to generate more awareness about social innovation among young people. Students and young professionals may be engaged in the process of understanding social innovation through discussion and interaction with outstanding individuals such as leaders or representatives of corporations, social enterprises, NGOs and education institutions. It is also an event that would create chances for different groups of people and organizations to network.

Forum Objectives

a. Raise awareness about social innovation in China by showcasing various businesses and initiatives

b. Publicity for initiatives of social innovation

c. Engage young people in thinking about solutions to overcome social problems using sustainable and creative ways

Target Audience

The primary target audience of this forum is student leaders from leading local tertiary institutions as well as young professionals who are on MBA course.

On top of our primary target audience, this forum is also open to representatives of NGOs, social enterprises and corporations may join as well. This may enable interaction among people of different background and perspectives.

We hope that this initiative will allow more people to understand what social innovation is about. More importantly, we hope they will be inspired by stories of the social innovators who are making changes to the world we live in in small but powerful ways.
