The complexity of the Chinese business environment is both intriguing and frustrating to comprehend. With a constant desire to make sense of these complexities, SHEN sets out to for an adventure in the mass market and gain hands-on experience in establishing a venture and trade. SHEN members will take part in flea markets and engage in barter trade. The team will conduct market research, determine its products, employ business and marketing strategies to survive the mass market, buy wholesale markets like Yiwu and Wenzhou, negotiate with the Chinese, learn the unspoken rules of the trade, determine pricing strategies, etc. This pseudo start-up is also an opportunity and avenue to learn about the cultures and thoughts of the Chinese!
