11th Batch Arrival in Shanghai
10th SHEN would like to extend a warm welcome to the 11th SHEN to Shanghai, where it’d be their home for the coming year. With just 15 students in the 11th SHEN, our director of internal affairs in SHEN took the lead to make sure that the new SHEN members settled in comfortably. It did not take long for the 11th to integrate into Shanghai and enjoy what the city has to offer. The 11th SHEN has internships with a whole range of industries, from the F&B industry with House of Flour to the finance industry, OCBC Bank, to startups such as Love Box Storage.A dinner was organized on the 8th of Feb to officially welcome the 11th and introduce each other. After a round of formal introductions, an intimate dinner proceeded with Shanghainese dishes especially picked out to introduce the cuisine to our newly arrived program mates. SHEN’s projects, such as BizBuzz and Social Entrepreneurship Project are also introduced to the 11th, to ensure that SHEN remains a closely knit community
with everyone lending a hand whenever and wherever possible.
On Saturday 14th Feb, the director of internal affairs also organized a one day long amazing race for the 11th to get acquainted with Shanghai better. The race had 7 stations with each station requiring the various teams to perform tasks before the clue to the next station is revealed to them. Given only one taxi ride the entire race, the teams found themselves covering most of shanghai on foot. Tiring as it was, they had a wonderful time not only getting to know the city better, but also the 10th and each other. The race concluded with dinner at south beauty, where both the 10th and 11th had a sumptious spicy Sichuan meal in the heart of shanghai. The winning teams were presented with their prizes and congratulated by everyone present.
SHEN would like to thank our director of internal affairs, Siew Wee and friends for taking the time to put together such an exciting and entertaining program for both the 10th and 11th to get to know each other better.
