O Hol(e)y Night!

“Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-DONUTTTTTTTT!”
Yes, dear readers, you guys read right. “Donut!” we all exclaim!
This past year, 12th SHEN celebrated Christmas at Donut King in Jing’an Park. Armed with RMB680 worth of vouchers and many empty stomachs, Donut King’s shelves were destined to be empty that faithful day.
Coming from a long day of work, we were all relieved to finally relax the night away. The weather was pleasantly chilly, just like how December ought to feel. Having spent more than 5 months on Shanghai, we had seen the weather gradually change from season to season, and we were glad to spend Christmas in actual cold weather! Just like in the movies.
Soon, the donuts came and we immediately sunk our teeth into those sinful sugary flour rings! Chocolate, cinnamon, icing coated, Christmas tree shaped, green, almond sprinkled, white, plain, cresent shaped. You name it, we had that donut! Savouring those little goodies with an entertaining bunch of friends was certainly fun!

donuts! (:
And with the help of the RMB680 sugar rush, we managed to uncover some of the mysteries of life! Questions such as “so, vegetation came before rocks?” arose (and no doubt, laughed at), intense discussions over the evolution of totally random words like “forest” came about, and we finally identified our best researcher ever, Little Miss Wiki. Who knew what she could find off the web! ;)
And, how could we forget the punking of our dear friends, who had to pay a price for being late. With two donuts in hand, we made them sing the above jingle, and when they reached the last note, they were to pose gleefully with those sugary flour rings placed anywhere on their body that they deem fit. I leave the poses, up to your imaginations.

Crossing over to Jing’an Temple, excessive photos were taken to commemorate this special occasion. Coincidentally, there was a group of students doing a project on Christmas and captured us on video singing carols. The highlight however, was sabotaging a friend when she identified a one of them “cute”.

At Jing'an Temple
All in all, it was a Christmas celebration not to be forgotten, and I’m sure my entire batch would agree. Funny personalities, combined with the wackiest ideas, and the most wicked sense of humour as the cherry on top, was the ultimate recipe to an awesome time. To more fantastic outings to come!
P.S. Credits to our Director of Internal Affairs for effortlessly combining the spirit of caroling this Christmas season with the source of our sugar rushes.
P.P.S. Puns and indirect jokes were all intended in this article (:
